The sheet is the site
I was tired of wrapping a spreadsheet in a CMS. Sheetany is the simple feature โ Google Sheets becomes the website, so agencies stop rebuilding what they already have.
I did not want another website builder. I wanted the spreadsheet I was already living in to stop being a dead end.
For years the pattern was the same. A list in Google Sheets โ jobs, inventory, posts, a directory of tools. Clear enough to run a week. Then someone would say we should put this on the internet, and the week would vanish into WordPress, Webflow, a developer quote, a staging site, a migration. The sheet stayed the source of truth. The site became a delayed, expensive copy.
That was the pain. Not โI cannot design.โ Not โI need a platform.โ The pain was duplication. Two places to update. One of them always lying.
The cut
Sheetany is one feature: the sheet is the site.
Pick a template. Map the columns. Put a domain on it. Edit a cell, publish, and the page is the cell. Blogs can be written in Google Docs and listed from the sheet. Directories, job boards, small stores โ the shapes operators already keep in rows.
No new CMS to train a contractor on. No theme fight. No hosting ticket. The skill the team already has โ a spreadsheet โ is the skill that ships the website.
Why agencies kept it
I built it because I was tired. Agencies kept it because they were tired in a more expensive way.
A content team that lives in Sheets does not want a new editor. A client who can fix a typo in a cell does not want a staging workflow. A shop that launches twelve niche sites a year does not want twelve CMSs. They want a system that is done on Friday.
Sheetany is not a toy for mockups. It is infrastructure for people whose data is already tabular and whose time is not. Fast pages, custom domains, search, the unglamorous parts that make a site feel like a product instead of an export.
Simple feature
If you can explain the website as a table, you should not need a development cycle to put it online. That is the whole product. Everything else is care around that cut.
I still open a sheet when I think. Now the sheet can speak to the world without becoming someone elseโs project plan.
